What is Redirection?

Our Redirection service ensures that your mail moves with you, whether you are moving to another home in the UK or abroad, permanently or temporarily. The Redirection service is available for personal or business customers.

Applying by post

Please download and print the Redirection application form. You can send your completed application form and proof of identification documents (listed below) to:

Cooper House, Lakeside, Festival Way, STOKE ON TRENT, ST1 5RY

Please make your payment by cheque, made payable to Royal Mail Group Ltd.

For each person applying that has a different last name to the primary applicant, you must provide a separate cheque that matches each different last name.

Identification required

For your security, we need to verify your identity to set up your Redirection. You will need to provide two forms of identification that show the address you're moving from.

For each person included in the application that has a different last name to the main applicant, you must provide proof of identity and proof of old address documents. For children under 16 that have a different last name, please provide proof of identity only.

Proof of identity document

Please provide one of the following. Document should be current and valid:

  • Passport
  • Driving license
  • Credit / Debit card
  • Bank / building society book
  • Birth certificate (under 16s only)
  • EU member state identity card

Proof of old address document

Please provide one of the following. Document should be no older than 6 months and must match the last name and the old address.

  • Original utility bill (Not a mobile phone or a store/charge card statement)
  • Original credit card statement
  • Original mortgage statement
  • Original bank or building society statement or passbook

Alternatively, you can apply at your nearest Post Office branch in person. Please make sure you take the appropriate identity documentation with you.

You can apply on behalf of someone who has died, or for whom you have Power of Attorney. Download the Special Circumstances application form below and return the completed form by post to:

Please make sure you enclose the appropriate identification listed on the application form.

Alternatively, you can also apply at a Post Office® branch. Please make sure you take along the appropriate ID documentation as listed on the application form.

Do NOT apply for online or at the Post Office.

Please let the Customer Service Agent know you require a Sensitive Redirection. This will allow us to set up the Redirection with additional safeguards.
