Phone
To enable a phone application your payment card must be registered to the address you’re wanting to redirect your mail from. We also require you to provide your proof of benefit before the application can proceed, by uploading it on our webform. Once you have submitted your webform you will receive an email from us which will contain confirmation that we have received your proof of eligibility, your unique reference number and the next steps to complete the phone application.
Please also check your junk mail folder in case you have a spam filter which does not recognise the email address we will use to send.
*Please note – Payment must be made within 5 days of receiving your completed webform. Failure to make payment with 5 days may result in you needing to resubmit your proof of benefit.
Post – Please follow the steps below to make your application
1. Download, print, and complete the application formpdf, 2.17 MB
2. Proof of Identity Document Required
You’ll need to provide us a "proof of address" document that validates that you reside at the address you are moving from. These must be originals, photocopies are not accepted. If you are providing bills and statements as ID they must be dated within the last six months. If everyone applying shares the same last name, we only need ID in the name of the person applying. If not, you’ll need two different forms of original identification - not photocopies - for each different last name on the form.
Proof of address (Please choose one of the following) |
---|
Two different utility bills from the last 6 months (please do not send a mobile phone or a store/charge card statement. Bills printed from the Internet are not valid) |
Recent bank, building society, or credit union statement or passbook (no older than 6 months) |
Original credit card statement (no older than 6 months) |
3. Proof of Benefit Documents
We require you to provide one of the following items to prove that you receive the qualifying benefits i.e. Universal Credit or Pension Credit along with your application. These can either be the originals or certified copies dated within the last 6 months.
- Benefit award letter
- Letter from JobCentre plus
- Letter from Department of Work and Pensions
Once this is done, please post to us at the following address:
Redirection Centre, Royal Mail
Trent House
Media Way
STOKE-ON-TRENT
ST1 5ST
What if I don’t have any physical letter and I need to move asap?
We may be able to accept a bank statement that shows the applicable benefit paid into your account. We will require the bank statement to be dated within the last 6 months, be in the name of the lead applicant and also have the address on it.
How will I receive confirmation of setup?
We will send you a letter to confirm details of your Redirection. The letter will be sent to your old address if you apply close to your move date. If you want your new address removed from the letter, please mark the box on the application form with an ‘X’.
To help prevent fraudulent applications, we also send a security letter to the old address. This will be addressed to the occupier, to make them aware that a Redirection has been taken out from the address. It will show all the names of people listed on the form, but it will not show your new address
What if my proof of document is older than 6 month and I cannot get another letter?
Unfortunately, we cannot process applications with out of date documentation. If you have a bank statement that shows the benefit being paid within the six months, this will be accepted. Please indicate this on the form and ensure that it shows your name and address.
Will I be able to renew and get a concession rate?
You can renew your Redirection for up to 4 years. Before the end of your Redirection period, we will write to you at the new address to ask if you wish to renew the Redirection.
Your eligibility for the concessionary rate will need to be re-confirmed and this will require you to resubmit proof you receive Pensions Credit or Universal Credit.
