We’ve listened to what small businesses need — through in-depth research with the British Chambers of Commerce, including a national survey and roundtables with over 1,200 businesses across the UK.
You told us about the challenges you face and the support that would make a difference. In response, we’re making a series of practical commitments — from clearer advice and better tools to more flexible delivery options — to help you grow with confidence.
Our £1m apprenticeship fund for small businesses
From traditional trades to finance and keeping up with technology developments, many small businesses told us they had a skills gap that is holding them back. Following the success of our first £1m round of apprenticeship levy transfer funding for small businesses in July, we are pleased to announce a further £1m is now available. The fund is open to owners or employees of businesses selling online that have 250 employees or fewer. It can be used for any Government accredited apprenticeship. We will provide more advice through our relaunched Small Business Hub which will contain tailored content for businesses at every stage of their journey, from side hustles and start-ups to established SMEs.
We will also be hosting more videos with hints, tips and advice on the topics businesses told us they wanted clearer information on.
