International Business Contract Product changes

The international parcels and trading landscape has experienced significant changes over the last 12 month especially following the end of the UK and EU transition period. Since 1 January 2021 we have experienced much tighter customs and border controls for items of non-personal correspondence that is resulting in non-compliant items being returned to the sender. To respond to these new requirements Royal Mail has accelerated its plans to change our product portfolio to ensure our customers are customs compliant and are providing all mandatory pre-advice customs data. We are finalising these plans and will be communicating further changes prior to the end of March which will come into effect from 1 May 2021.

For customers sending goods/items of non personal correspondence we recognise that this may require changes and urge you to get ready for the 1 May 2021 by:

1) Using an approved shipping solution
    www.royalmail.com/electronic-customs-solutions

2) Ensuring you are submitting 100% correct and complete customs declarations
    www.royalmail.com/electronic-customs-data; and

3) applying the correct and compliant documentation.

Price changes from 8 March 2021

We are writing to inform you of our prices, effective from Monday 8 March 2021, for distributions taking place on or after Monday 29 March 2021.

We are pleased to announce that we will not be increasing our prices for Standard contracts of up to 100,000 items.

For Standard contracts between 100,000 and 200,000 items we have increased our prices by 1.7% to better reflect the costs of delivering our service to you.

For Standard contracts of more than 200,000 items we have simplified our Rate Card structure. In order to make it easier for you to calculate the price of your bookings, we have:

  • reduced the number of Postcode Sector pricing bands from 9 to 3
  • aligned Postcode Sectors to be consistent across Postcode Areas, e.g. all Postcode Sectors starting with 'OX' have been assigned to a single band

The combined outcome of these changes is designed to produce no overall price increase, but there may be variations depending on your distribution area.

Please refer to the Door to Door rate card for more information.

JICMAIL Levy Introduction

We are introducing a new JICMAIL levy to the Door to Door products, to support the future funding of JICMAIL for bookings made from Monday 8 March 2021, for distributions taking place on or after Monday 29 March 2021. The levy, set at 0.3%, will replace the existing subscription model applied by JICMAIL, providing greater transparency of associated costs to advertisers. Royal Mail will act as a collection agent of the JICMAIL levy from advertisers, and pass all levies collected directly to JICMAIL. For more information please refer to https://www.jicmail.org.uk/

We are changing our Air Carrier Supplements on many destinations on Business Contract services

The majority have been reduced to reflect the improved prices Royal Mail has secured despite the coronavirus impact on air capacity across the world.

We have removed the supplement from a number of countries and introduced it to a few new destinations.

We continue to review these prices to reflect changing air carrier costs.

Please visit royalmail.com/aircarriersupplements for the latest air carrier supplement prices.

International Surcharge

Royal Mail introduced an International surcharge in order to help us respond to the impact of the volatile currency market on key cost areas for our business; fuel, conveyancing and International delivery charges. A flexible International surcharge enables us to keep prices as low as possible while enabling us to react to future currency and fuel related cost changes.

The surcharge increased on 15th November 2019 and will remain at 6.5%. However given the current volatility of currency the surcharge is continuously under review and may decrease or increase subject to 14 days notice. To keep up to date on the level of International Surcharge please visit royalmail.com/surcharges
