Its a hundred years since Wild West showman Samuel F Cody made the UK's first powered flight, so let's open the throttle and loop the loop with six soar-away stamps.

Cody's flight on Farnborough Common may have lasted less than 30 seconds but his brief journey, in his hand-built British Army Aeroplane No.1, ignited the British public's love affair with the excitement of flight. Since then spectators have flocked to air displays and fittingly this issue has been timed to coincide with the 60th Farnborough International Air Show.

In addition to the Air Displays stamps we are marking the two anniversaries with a Generic Sheet featuring 20 1st Class Red Arrows stamps and rare archive photography. We have also teamed up with the Royal Mint to produce a 15000 limited edition Farnborough Medal Cover.
