Why sell stamps?
All age groups buy stamps
We’ve found that all age groups buy stamps, some on a regular basis and some now and again. 1st Class Stamps are much more popular than 2nd Class now with all age groups with 71% in 2008 compared to 50% in 2001.
Customers are loyal
Consumers tend to buy stamps in same place on a regular basis.
Consumers have an interest in all stamps
As well as everyday use of 1C and 2C stamps, Christmas & Key Date stamps of great interest to consumers.
Customer intentions
At the time of the survey, 20% of consumers stated that their aim of buying stamps in a Retail store was the key reason to visit the store.
Selling stamps means increased sales on other products
In addition to 49% of consumers buying groceries, 30% purchased cards and stationery too.
Customers make the effort
56% of consumers confirmed that they would make a special visit to a Retailer to buy stamps.

Prices
As a stamp retailer you can earn excellent returns on your sales of stamps, selling books of First Class, Second Class and international stamps – with the highest margins available on First Class stamps. A variety of book sizes are available, supplied in packs of 25 or 50.

Point of sale
We can provide you with a range of Point of Sale materials – from sticker sheets and scan tags for your tills, to handy card headers and signs showing customers if they need a Letter or Large Letter stamp. For a full list of available materials, and to make an order, contact your Account Manager. If you don’t have an Account Manager, you can call our sales team on 08457 640 640.
Here are some simple ways to help grow your sales:
- Position POS materials where they’ll have greatest impact on customers.
- Sell stamps at or near tills.
- Offer stamps to customers when they purchase envelopes, postcards etc.

Creating your own Point of Sale?
First time users
If you are creating your own point of sale materials and have not previously completed a request form to use our images, please complete this request form before proceeding.
We will then provide an ongoing agreement and email the relevant logo and/or stamp images to you in one of 3 formats (eps, tif or jpeg).
Please ensure you refer to our stamps and logo guidelines for any design work undertaken and send the completed artwork to brand.team@royalmail.com for final approval.
Existing users
If you already have a Point of Sale agreement but require additional images, please email brand.team@royalmail.com.
