Royal Mail does not recommend one party over another.
Remember, it is up to you to ensure your franking machine is kept in good working order, as highlighted in the Legal Scheme for franking Letters and Parcels.

What happens if we move?
Any machine that moves location needs to be re-licenced (the franking scheme states this) as we need to know where the machine is located should we need to go and inspect it. The manufacturer must also have the franking machine die number on their database at the correct address which is on the licence.Back to top
My Mailmark™ machine changes the time automatically at 1700 but we don’t post or have a collection until later, what do I do?
New Mailmark franking machines will switch the date over to the next day’s date at 5pm automatically. Mail franked later in the day and posted in a post box or at a Post Office® that fails to meet our last collection time will already be dated correctly. (With SMART or standard machines the date must be the date of posting before cut off time, this has not changed.)Back to top
Should I use red or blue ink?
You will need to use blue ink in Mailmark™ franking machines, and transition to blue ink on your other machines when you run out of red ink, even if you don’t change your machine.Back to top
