Business Reply and Freepost Standard actively encourage businesses, customers and new prospects to react to your direct mail, magazine inserts or surveys. Use them to great effect for electoral communications, market research and surveys too.

What can you send?

Your mailing can be a letter, large letter or parcel, using 1st or 2nd class delivery within the UK. Respondents can post their replies in any Royal Mail letterbox and they don’t have to pay for a stamp.

Business Reply Standard

Business Reply Standard can be used for letter, large letter or parcel response on which you print a licence number, licence barcode and address that we supply. This enables us to deliver the mail and invoice you for the responses you receive.

Freepost Standard

Standard Pre-printed

With Standard Pre-printed, you get to pre-print the envelope with your address and Freepost licence number and then you supply the envelopes to your customers. This means that we can deliver the mail and invoice you for the responses you get back.

Design and print

If you prefer to produce and print your own licence number you can use our Artwork generator design tool to produce a mail piece image with your licence number, licence barcode, address and the indicia.

A 12 alpha character licence and barcode must be present on all mail pieces.

Design templates and guidelines

The new specification varies slightly between letter and large letter mail pieces, so your artwork needs to be accurate so that our machines can read and count it. Use our Artwork generator design tool via the link below to produce a mail piece image with your licence number, licence barcode, address and the indicia.

How much does it cost?

You need a separate licence for each address that items are returned to which gives you 12 months usage.
