Why are you no longer providing an identity verification service?
Our contract with Government Digital Services ended and as a result we are no longing offering the GOV.UK Verify service on behalf of Government.
What information do you currently have about me?
We have your name, address, date of birth, email address, mobile phone number, identity document information and account activity history from when you created the account.
Are you keeping any information about me once the service closes?
Once the Royal Mail Identity Verification service closes on 1 March 2019, all personal information will be destroyed, with the exception of your anonymised account usage history.
Why are you keeping this information about me?
We are required to securely keep this information by Her Majesty’s Government for a period of 7 years.
I provided my driving licence and/or passport details - are you holding this information about me?
Once the Royal Mail Identity Verification service closes on 1 March 2019 driving licence and/or passport details, will be destroyed.
How will I know when you have deleted my details?
From 1 March 2019, you will no longer have access to your Royal Mail Identity Verification account. All personal information will be destroyed, with the exception of your anonymised account usage history.
Am I due a refund?
No, the Royal Mail Identity Verification service is free therefore no refund is applicable.
Will the Royal Mail Identity Verification I have already received continue to be valid?
Royal Mail provided the Identity Verification service that allowed you to access government services online. From 1 March 2019 the Royal Mail Identity Verification service will close and your account will no longer be valid. We recommend that you seek identity verification through another Identity Provider in order to continue to access government services online. Will I be able to access my account information?
Your Royal Mail Identity Verification account will be closed from 1 March 2019, therefore your account will no longer be valid.
How do I access government services online in the future?
To access government services in the future:
1. Start by using one of the government services that uses GOV.UK Verify.
2. Verify your identity with a new identity provider
After you’ve set up an identity account with an identity provider, you can use it with any government service that uses GOV.UK Verify. You can’t create a GOV.UK Verify account outside this process.
