The UK is due to leave the EU on 31st January 2020. The UK will then enter the transition period. This is expected to last until 31st December 2020, subject to a possible extension.
The transition period (which currently runs to 31st December 2020) is designed to give everyone in the UK and the EU time to prepare for changes caused by the UK leaving the EU. We do not expect any changes to how you send and receive items during this time. This means that you won't have to make any immediate changes to the way you think about customs or VAT in relation to the EU. You will need to start preparing for possible changes after the transition period.
