Classic Carry On and Hammer Films
1st Class – Carry On Sergent
Throughout the 60s and 70s, Pinewood (Carry On) and Bray Studios (Hammer horror) turned out hit after hit in both genres.
48p - Dracula
People flocked to the cinema in droves, attracted by the imagery they saw on the film posters, which is why we've used these evocative images for our latest range of Special Stamps.
50p - Carry on Cleo
The six stamps will bring back memories of those more innocent times, where innuendo and irony provided a good night out.
56p - Curse of Frankenstein
Cuddly Carry On star Bernard Bresslaw was the original choice to play the Frankenstein monster in The Curse of Frankenstein, but wanted too high a fee so the job went to Christopher Lee instead.
72p - Carry On Screaming
The films launched the careers of many a star of stage and screen. From Dora Bryan, William Hartnell and Bill Owen in the first Carry On film, to the twins of terror, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in the Hammer series.
81p - The Mummy
Although they seem to go to many exotic locations, the furthest place from London the Carry On team went to was part way up Snowdon, North Wales.
