Where can I get a copy of the Mailsort® User Guide?
The Mailsort® User Guide is available to download from the document library
Please also refer to our ‘Know how’ – a user’s manual for Mailsort®, Presstream®, Walksort® and Cleanmail®, including Royal Mail International Bulk Mail – also available to download from our document library
Where do I put the Standard Selection Code (SSC) on my envelopes?
You don’t have to print the SSC as part of the address but it can help identify mailings, when necessary. If you’re incorporating the SSC, just separate it from the postcode. Ideally, place it above the address.
Do I need to repeat the accreditation process for every mailing?
No. The accreditation process allows us to make sure the mail you produce meets the specification set for each product. Once you’ve completed it, you’re ready to go.
All the functions from the Factfinder like the online calculator are now available on the Mailsort® Technical website. If there’s something you can’t find, call our Sales Centre on 08457 950 950 and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Sustainable Mail™ is designed to help you minimise the environmental impact of your mailing and demonstrate your commitment to good environmental practices. Ensure your mailing meets our specification and you can increase its recyclability, improve its targeting and access lower prices as well.
Sustainable Mail™ sets out a standard for permissible materials, ensuring the mail pack is recyclable in the majority of local authority areas. Consumers are also made more aware of recyclability by the inclusion of a recycling statement or logo on the mail piece.
Sustainable Mail™ works in conjunction with Mailsort®. To achieve the lower price associated with Sustainable Mail™, you must meet the requirements of the Mailsort® specification as well as the additional requirements for Sustainable Mail™.
Any Sustainable Mail™ items will need to be presented as a separate mailing from standard Mailsort®. This means that you will need to update the line list, computer planning report and cage card to reflect the fact you are using the Sustainable Mail™ specification. Bag and tray labels can remain as standard Mailsort®, and OBA will be updated to allow you to select the Sustainable Mail™ option.
Is Sustainable Mail™ available for Mailsort® Light?
No. The Sustainable Mail™ option will be available on all variants of Mailsort® except Mailsort® Light. However, the offer is restricted to recyclable letters and large letters communicating a uniform message.
You can minimise the environmental impact of your mailing and demonstrate your commitment to good environmental practices by adding a recycling statement or logo. You will also be able to increase your mailing’s recyclability and access lower prices.
How does Sustainable Mail™ benefit the environment?
Effective targeting and data management means that you will only be sending mailings to your target audience. All paper and materials used will be recyclable and your mailing will have the ‘Recycle Now’ logo on it which will encourage your consumers to recycle it. To find out more, visit the Sustainable Mail™ section.
Why can't I access the Sustainable Mail™ price for my bills and statements?
One of the objectives of Sustainable Mail™ is to encourage household recycling of mail. These items are excluded because they tend not to be recycled by households due to their concerns about identity fraud (even though mail accounts for only a very small proportion of identity fraud compared with online). Normally, these items should be shredded before disposal, but most local authorities are currently unable to recycle shredded paper.
