    We deliver accross the UK, but some remote areas are exempt from our delivery guarantee.

    Special Delivery™ guarantees delivery by 9.00 am next working day to most* of the UK. This includes Northern Ireland and Jersey. Our delivery guarantee does not cover certain places, such as the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and some remote parts of Scotland. The following tables detail the postcodes where we cannot confirm your item will arrive by 9.00am the next working day.

  4. Why should I pay for extra compensation?

    If you use Special Delivery™ 9.00am then your mail is automatically covered for up to £50 compensation. If you’re sending an item that’s more valuable then we advise that you increase your cover to £1,000 or £2,500, in the unlikely event that it is lost or damaged in transit. For a small additional fee you can insure your item for up to £2,500. Find out how little additional compensation costs.

  5. Why should I get consequential loss?

    If you send an item that could be costly if it is lost, damaged or delayed in transit, then take advantage of our consequential loss cover of up to £10,000.

    If you believe your item is lost or has been delivered late you can make a claim  through Customer Service.

  7. Can I use Special Delivery™ 9.00am with an Admail address?

    Instead of wasting your valuable time going out to catch the post, let us come and get it straight from your office with our Business Collection service. We’ll collect all your mail on a daily basis or on request whenever you need it.   11. What if something goes wrong?

    Please keep your proof of posting receipt. If your item is not delivered on time we’ll refund your money providing you have your proof of posting and claim within 14 days of posting.

    If your item gets lost or damaged while it’s in our care, you can make a claim for compensation or consequential loss. Learn more about compensation

  15. My item weighs more than 2kg. Can I use Special Delivery™ 9am?
    No. The maximum weight limit for Special Delivery™ 9.00am is 2kg. If your item weighs up to 10kg we recommend using Special Delivery™ Next Day, otherwise, use our Standard Parcel service or Parcelforce Worldwide.

  16. Compensation for large users of Special Delivery™

    If you post over 170,000 Special Delivery™ packages each year from a single site you can now opt to be automatically reimbursed if we let you down.  If we miss a performance target of 98% within any given month we can arrange to reimburse you without the need for your staff to complete claim paperwork.  This should help save you time and administration costs.  If delivery performance falls below 98% the following rates will apply:

    98% and above     Nil
    97% - 97.99%       0.5%
    96% - 96.99%       1%
    Below 96%           1.5%

    The % reimbursement will apply to all eligible Special Delivery™ items posted in the period.  We'll provide quality of service reports so that you can see how well we've performed each month.  For further information, please contact your account handler or telephone Business Customer Services on 08457 950 950.

  17. Special Delivery™ Late Access

    Customers posting over 400,000 items/annum from a single site now have access to our Special Delivery™ Late Access product for items posted from that site. The Late Access product allows customers to post a proportion of their items after the standard LAT for that area for a premium charge. 

    This service is only available where Royal Mail staff are present on the customer’s premises (in order to process the mail before collection at the later time). In order to qualify for on site processing the customer must comply with the following:

    • Provide a suitable site which Royal Mail has ascertained meets with RM Health and Safety regulations
    • Post a minimum of 400,000 items/annum from a single site
    • Provide a regular workflow throughout the day
    • Provide a regular volume of traffic throughout the year
    • Provide a forecast of daily, weekly and monthly volumes and give at least 24 hours notice of any change in these forecasts


    The revised customer specific latest acceptance time will depend in each case on the despatch time for the local Mail Centre and the distance of each customer’s premises from that mail centre. Please contact your account handler for more details and to discuss whether you are eligible for this service.

    Charges
    The premium charges for items processed by Royal Mail on the customer’s site and posted after the current standard LAT are as follows:

    • £890 per calendar month for the late collection

    Customers posting over 150,000 items per annum from multiple sites may qualify for a Group Rate discount as follows

    To qualify for these prices the Customer must:
    • Meet the minimum 150,000 items per annum entry-level volume requirement.  At commencement of the contract, the customer must provide Royal Mail with a breakdown of expected volumes per quarter.
    • Accept that any shortfall in volume per quarter will be retrospectively billed in line with agreed terms (one invoice).
    • Accept that six months after the commencement date of the contract, the group price will be withdrawn if volumes are not on track and that all sites will revert  
       to either rate card or site based discounts.
    • Accept that the price is available for 12 months from commencement of the contract and will be reviewed at this time.

     In addition, each individual site must:

    • Post via a firms collection (not through a Post Office outlet).
    • Post through a Special Delivery PPI account.
    • Use Royal Mail's electronic billing system.
    • Not post foreign currency or any items deemed as high risk.
