Creativity and Production

Working with WRAP, we’ve developed a better understanding of how to reduce the carbon associated with the entire lifecycle of a mailing.

To minimise the environmental impact of your Door to Door mailing, your business needs to meet the requirements listed below. Once you meet these criteria and sign up to our terms and conditions, we promise to offset any further carbon impact of your mailing to make it carbon neutral. We’ll supply you with our Carbon Neutral logo to show your customers that your mailing is carbon neutral.

What you need to do:

Materials

Materials used in your mailing must come from recycled and sustainable sources and also be recycled easily by your customer.

  • Paper must have a minimum of 50% recycled content
  • Any non-recycled paper content must come from virgin paper sourced from suppliers with a forest certification scheme
  • Polywrap and window envelopes can’t be used for mailings produced under this scheme, because they can’t be easily recycled
  • Recycled, recyclable or reusable materials must be used for packaging

Environmental management suppliers

Your mailing must be produced by a supplier with an Environment Management System. All printers, mailing houses and other production partners must have one of the following schemes in place:

  • Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) registration
  • ISO 14001 certification
  • A BS8555-based approach
  • An Environmental Management System (EMS)

Inks and varnishes

You must use:

  • Vegetable-based or recycled inks
  • Aqueous (or non-oil based) varnishes

By working together to meet these requirements, we can minimise the carbon impact of your mailing. We can also try to make it as easy as possible for your customers to recycle your mailings.
