Whether you are one of the millions of people who do their shopping online for gifts or send Christmas cards to brighten up someone’s festive season, we’re ready to deliver your Christmas.
From last posting dates to Christmas deliveries, you’ll find all your posting needs here with our one–stop shop guide to all things festive!
While we always aim to provide a next day service on 1st Class mail and a three day service for 2nd Class, at this time of year Royal Mail deals with a huge increase in volumes of letters, cards and parcels.
Since 1985, Ofcom and previous regulators have excluded December from the specific normal target requirement for deliveries, in recognition of the vast amount of mail we deal with during the Christmas period. Nonetheless, Royal Mail continues to prioritise 1st Class mail over 2nd Class mail in the normal way.
Our network remains very busy, as seasonal parcel and mail volumes continue to be delivered.
To beat the Christmas rush, make sure you post before the recommended latest posting date.

We'll be trying our very best to get all your Christmas post to you as soon as we can. To help us achieve this, we'll be offering you more services over the festive period:
Later opening hours
If you're out when we try to deliver, we've made it easier to collect your post from your local Delivery Office, most of which plan to open later from Monday 7th December. The opening hours will be on your ‘Something for you’ card.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we’ll be out later in the day and evening to deliver your parcels to you.
More redelivery options
You can arrange redelivery of your Christmas post to your home address, a neighbour's address or your local Post Office®.
If you are going to be closed and want us to hold your mail and not deliver it to you whilst you are away, please apply for a Business Keepsafe™.
Please note there will be no collections or deliveries on Christmas Day - 25th December, Boxing Day - 26th December, Sunday 27 December, Monday 28 December and New Year’s Day -1st January (also 2nd January if based in Scotland).
