Provoke a good reaction
Using Business Reply or Freepost Standard means businesses and consumers can react quickly and easily to your DM, magazine inserts, press advertisements, or surveys with a postage paid response.
Your mailing can be a letter, large letter or packet, using 1st or 2nd class delivery within the UK. Respondents can post their replies in any Royal Mail letter box and they don’t have to pay for a stamp. What could be easier?Business Reply Standard
Business Reply Standard can be used for letter, large letter or packet response on which you print a licence number and address that we supply. This enables us to deliver the mail and invoice you for the responses you receive. Choose this service if you prefer the response licence detail to be printed on the top left of the mail piece.
Freepost Standard
There are two types of Freepost Standard designs: Standard Pre-printed and Standard Handwritten.
With Standard Pre-printed, you get to pre-print the envelope with your address and Freepost licence number and then you supply the envelopes to your customers. This means that we can deliver the mail and invoice you for the responses you get back. Choose this service if you prefer the response licence detail to be printed with the return address.
Standard Handwritten gives you the opportunity to provide the Freepost address and Freepost licence number to your customer – for example a magazine advert - and they write it on their own envelopes. With this option, you bear none of the printing costs – and again, Royal Mail invoices only for the responses that come back to you.Design options for all of our services
Does someone print your envelopes for you? Be sure to pass on your licence number and design to your print supplier. Find out more in our Response Services user guide.
Do you print your own envelopes? If you prefer to produce and print your own licence number then use our Artwork generator design tool.
Note: You must have a new style alpha licence number (RRRR-RRRR-RRRR), to use the design tool. If you still have an old style alpha numeric licence number, e.g. LON123, we recommend that you update it to a new alpha licence number as soon as possible. You can move to a new alpha licence number, or get the specifications you require with an old style licence number by calling our team on 08457 950 950.
If you would like to submit your designs to Royal Mail for approval prior to printing, then please post a sample envelope to the following address:
