Sending a Letter, a Large Letter, a Small Parcel or a Medium Parcel?

Prices for 1st Class are the same no matter where you're sending in the UK. The amount you pay depends on the size and weight of the item you're sending. Each format has its own size and weight limits.

Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels

For rolled and cylinder shaped items, the length of the item plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm, with the greatest dimension being no more than 90cm.

Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels that measure up to 45cm in length and 8cm in diameter and do not exceed 2kg can be sent as small parcels.

Exceptions apply

Parcels that do not exceed 16cm in length and 16cm in width and 16cm in depth can be sent as small parcels, provided the weight does not exceed 2kg. Visit our shop to buy boxes this size.

Parcels greater in size than 61cm x 46cm x 46cm or heavier than 20kg can be sent using Parcelforce services which include tracking and guaranteed service as standard.

Shoud I use a credit account with PPI (Printed Postage Impression)?

If you spend more than £5,000 a year on Royal Mail services, you qualify for a Royal Mail credit account. This is an ideal way to pay for many of our services. If you don’t have space for a franking machine, you can pre-print the envelopes or labels, and place your order via our Online Business Account (OBA) system. As an account customer, you also have the added benefit of our credit terms.

We don’t offer compensation for loss or damage. Items of value should be sent using Special Delivery Guaranteed™ which is a tracked and secure service.

Can I use Customer Collection?

If you open an account with us, we’ll visit your premises to collect your mail. Annual weekday collection service costs just £775 (plus VAT), but if you spend more than £15,000 a year with us per site, we'll provide you with the service for free.
