Delivery to Neighbour

Delivery to Neighbour
Trial extended for a further 3 months
Our ”Delivery to Neighbour” trial is part of an on-going programme to make deliveries more convenient for you. During the trial, which is taking place in selected parts of the country, items which are too big for the letterbox or require a signature, can be delivered to a neighbour if no one is at home*.
During the trial, and if you live in one of the selected areas:
- If we deliver your item to a neighbour, you’ll receive a card through the door telling you this.
- If we’re unable to deliver to your address and a neighbour is also out, your item will be returned to the Delivery Office for you to collect or to arrange for a redelivery – again we’ll leave a card for you confirming this.
The trial was originally for 3 months, running from 28 November 2011 through to 25 February 2012. The trial has been extended for a further 3 months and is now due to cease on 26th May 2012. If you live in one of the trial areas, you’ll receive a leaflet to your home address, with details of this extension.
- Areas involved in the trial (PDF 235KB)
- If you’d prefer not to take part on the trial, you can opt out by displaying a Royal Mail sticker at your address

*Special Delivery™ and inbound international items requiring a signature are excluded from the Delivery to Neighbour trial.
Opt out by displaying a Royal Mail sticker at your address
I understand that by opting out of Royal Mail’s Delivery to Neighbour trial, any mail items which cannot be delivered to my address because I am not at home, will be returned to my local Royal Mail Delivery Office, for me to collect or to arrange a re-delivery.
I understand that by opting out of Delivery to Neighbour, I am opting out of taking receipt of my neighbours’ items also.
I am aware that opting out of Delivery to Neighbour applies to items delivered by Royal Mail only.
I understand that it is my responsibility to display the sticker at all times. If the sticker is not made easily visible at my address, items may be delivered to a neighbour if I am not at home or I may be asked to take receipt of my neighbours’ item(s).
I understand that if at any time I change my mind and decide not to opt-out, then I need only to remove the sticker.
I confirm that the sticker will be displayed at my address so that it is easily visible to the Royal Mail postman or postwoman.
If you live in one of our trial areas and would like to opt out, request a sticker
