Advertising Mail™

Advertising Mail™ is designed to give you stronger returns from your direct mail campaigns. It provides:

  • reliable response – accurately measure the effect of your direct mailing campaigns
  • personal, precision targeting – increasing the ROI for your campaigns
  • effective communication channel – helping you retain existing customers as well as acquire new ones.

You can customise Advertising Mail™ to meet your needs using the following options:

  • letter, large letter or packet format
  • 1st Class, 2nd Class or Economy delivery speeds
  • making your mail machine-readable
  • sorting your mail.

To give you more choice, we have also improved the options and specifications available. The key changes are highlighted below. Or download the product specification for full details.

Key changes

New options
  • A new machine-readable, large letter format with the option to use polywrap – great for sending customer magazines and catalogues.
  • A new packet format - allowing you to send product samples or creative direct mail.
  • New unsorted mail options – an easy option giving smaller businesses, or larger businesses running smaller advertising campaigns, access to the benefits of direct mail with no, or simple, preparation of your mail.

Improved delivery speeds
  • We’re aiming to cut our delivery times for 2nd Class mail to within two days after day of posting and Economy (previously known as Advertising Mail 3) to within four working days after day of posting.

Reduced entry levels
  • We are reducing the minimum entry level on sorted options to 4,000 letters or 1,000 large letters or packets (Big Book and Heavyweight will remain at an entry level of 12,000 items per mailing) - this means more businesses can take advantage of our great advertising prices.

Fewer sortation levels
  • If you provide sorted mail, we now only have two sortation options – Low Sort (up to 88 ways) and High Sort (up to 1,525 ways). This simplifies the choice for you.

Other changes
  • We will automatically charge the Advertising Standards Board of Finance levy for direct mail (masbof) on Advertising Mail products. If you wish, refunds can be claimed from asbof retrospectively.
  • We will now accept sorted letters and large letters in trays or bags in most instances, providing you greater choice in how you present your mail.
  • We will introduce a minimum average number of items per selection across the mailing for customers sending sorted mail who wish to post in trays.
  • We have revised the number of items required to make up a direct selection for High Sort, regardless of container. This will help us handle your mail more efficiently.
